Pleibéricos, an online platform founded during the Covid-19 pandemic by Prof Santiago Fouz Hernández (Durham) and Dr Esther Gimeno Ugalde (Vienna) to promote new books in Iberian Studies, marks its third anniversary this year with a new online catalogue featuring the over 100 books launched by the platform since June 2020 and its first hybrid event.

The online catalogue ‘Libros Pleibéricos’ consists of some 100 entries, one per book, bringing together all the promotional materials relevant to each book launch. Each entry includes links to the YouTube Live group event or pre-recorded video, the event blog post (with links to publishers and further info), the book’s Instagram reel and the audio podcast version of the individual presentation. Entries also include a link to the relevant episode of our ‘Estudios Ibéricos’ podcast channel in collaboration with New Books Network en español for books featured in that channel. Entries can be accessed in chronological order of presentation in Pleibéricos, by author and by theme. The catalogue can be accessed here.

Following our first in-person event at the Instituto Cervantes HQs in Madrid at the end of last year, Pleibéricos teamed up with the Association for Contemporary Iberian Studies to host their first hybrid event at their 44th annual conference at the Universidade do Porto in Portugal on September 6th, 2023. The event, hosted by Fouz Hernández and Gimeno Ugalde, was broadcast live via YouTube (@Pleibericos) and is now available on streaming here: bit.ly/PleiACIS44

Details about the event, including featured books, are available in the Pleibéricos blog here.

The catalogue and the events in Madrid and O Porto have been made possible thanks to the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport through a Hispanex grant.
