Theological Education and the Environmental Crisis Conference Webinars

At the 2023 Common Awards Annual Conference we explored the roles that theological education can play in enabling churches and wider society to face the multiple overlapping crises, including the climate crisis, that form the environmental crisis. We explored:

  • the scale of the challenges facing us,
  • the ways in which the environmental crisis might shape TEIs’ curricula;
  • the changes in culture and practice that it might demand of TEIs, and
  • the ways in which theological education and the churches might help foster deeper responses.

As the conference was face-to-face, we committed to providing future webinars for students and staff and we are delighted to confirm the following webinars. Tickets will be released soon.

  • Norma Wirzba author of This Sacred Life on 22 January at 1:30-3:00
  • Dr Martin Hodson, co-author of A Christian Guide to Environmental Issues on 28 February 12:00-1:30
  • Dr Ruth Valerio, author of Saying Yes to Life 15 March 11:30-1:00

The Annual Conference for Theological Educators 2024

3. Curriculum Development

TEIs are required to submit Curriculum Development documents for changes to TEI programmes by 26th January 2024. There are three main types of changes to programmes which can be considered at this deadline:

  • Introducing a new programme at TEI level
  • Withdrawing a programme at TEI level
  • Proposing changes to the mode of delivery (ie online/in-person/hybrid) of TEI programmes and modules

Further information on the approvals process for these changes is available here.

Smaller changes to what is already being delivered at a TEI (e.g. introducing or withdrawing a module, changing the assessment pattern for a module, or proposing learning hours which fall outside of the guidelines) can be submitted at the May curriculum development deadline.
