(9 September 2016)
We would like to apologise to TEIs for the fact that, over the Summer, we have been unable to respond to general queries as quickly as we would have liked.
The Common Awards Team has experienced a number of staffing changes recently, including the Quality Assurance Manager's recent maternity leave, the appointment of a new Common Awards Officer – Emma Harrington – on 1st August, and the appointment of a new Temporary Common Awards Assistant – Shufei Rowe – on 3rd August. We have also experienced some substantial periods of staff absence on account of illness.
This timing was unfortunate, as we had a substantial amount of work to complete prior to, and following, the overarching Board of Examiners meeting on 31st August. We have prioritised this area of work and we have continued to progress our core activity as planned. However, we have not been able to respond to TEI queries as promptly as usual.
Now that the staffing situation is becoming more stable (especially with the appointment of a new Common Awards Assistant - Ana-Maria Costea - who joins us on 3rd October), the team will be working through the backlog of communications alongside our other priorities (e.g. the new student registration process, the Common Awards Management Board, external examiner overviews) as quickly as possible.
We would like to thank TEIs for their patience during this period, and assure you that we hope to be in a better position to pre-empt and respond to queries from now on.
In the meantime, please do get in touch with us if we have not responded to a query and you require an urgent response. We will try to deal with all urgent queries as quickly as possible.
