ACTION REQUESTED: Submission of campus card photographs
(3 December 2014)
Further to our recent announcements on campus cards, we are now able to provide a final deadline for TEIs to submit their campus card photographs to us by for those students who would like to request a card. The final submission deadline for photographs will be Monday 15th December 2014.
- Format requirements
We would like to remind TEIs of the following:
a) Campus card photographs must be saved with the student’s Banner ID as the file name, in the following format:
File name format:
Banner ID.jpg (e.g. 000123456.jpg)
b) Campus card photographs must adhere to formatting requirements set out in the campus card section of the TEI Handbook.
Photographs should be submitted to us either:
a) on an encrypted USB stick, posted to us via recorded delivery to the following address: Common Awards Team, St John’s College, 3 South Bailey, Durham, DH1 3RJ
b) or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
It has been confirmed that there is no functionality for us to download campus card photographs directly from CAVLE at the moment. However we anticipate that this functionality will be in place for future rounds of campus card production.
- Confirmation of TEIs’ postal address
Once the campus card production is complete, we will be posting campus cards to TEIs in order for them to distribute these to their students. Therefore we would like to ask TEIs to confirm the address that they would like us to post their campus cards to once they have been produced.
As a reminder, we are only able to produce campus cards in batches after our scheduled student records creation points in autumn and spring. We are not able to produce campus cards on an ad hoc basis. Any photos that are received after the deadline for each batch will mean that the student’s campus card will be produced in the next batch.
The benefits to students of applying for a University campus card is that it will enable them to apply to SCONUL so that they can access library resources across the country. The campus card can also be used to access student discounts, however they would receive the same benefits from an NUS card and may prefer to apply for an NUS card if they are interested in it solely for this purpose. (If students do wish to apply for an NUS card instead then they should apply directly via the NUS website. When it comes to selecting their “Place of study” they should select “Durham Students’ Union” from the drop down menu). Students will have to pay for the NUS card.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
