Our spring telephone campaign

Van Mildert College with buttercups

This March, Van Mildert College held its first ever telephone campaign, as part of the year of celebrations marking our 60th anniversary.

A group of our students reached out to some of our alumni to talk about their memories of Van Mildert, to share stories of how the college continues to make a positive difference in students' lives, and to discuss our plans to ensure the college community continues to thrive in the future.

Van Mildert College is a remarkable place, where lasting friendships are formed and indelible memories are made and when current Mildertians spoke with their counterparts from previous years, some truly meaningful and interesting conversations took place.

Our jubilee projects

Students also spoke about the four jubilee projects identified in consultation with the current student body. All four projects share the goal of fostering a sense of belonging, regardless of background or financial situation.

These included:

  • Increasing financial support to remove barriers to full participation in the student experience.

  • Developing a new common room for study and socialising.

  • Improving the performance space in Ann Dobson Hall.

  • Rebuilding our boat house, which was destroyed by fire in 2021.

You can still read more about these projects, get involved and donate.

Now is the time to build on the solid foundations established by generations of Mildertians and secure a bright future for those to come. We are grateful to all our alumni who took the time to speak with our students and share in the spirit of Van Mildert.

Thank you.
