Faculty of Arts and Humanities

International Students

Durham University in general, but the departments within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in particular, have a long history of welcoming suitably qualified overseas students to study here. We welcome applications for all of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and so seriously do we take our commitment to overseas students that we provide an International office to help during the application process (and beyond) as well as a dedicated tutorial infrastructure within our unique college system to help overseas students fit in and feel welcome and safe here.

If you are an overseas student interested in studying at one of the departments within the Arts & Humanities faculty click on the link here to find out about the help available to you at the International Office. Some potential overseas students however only need a little help in filling in our application forms. A common question we are asked is how to fill in our UCAS application forms (soon to be only an online process). What many overseas students do not know is that they have to apply to a UK body called UCAS (University & College Admissions Service) in order to gain entry to our undergraduate courses or indeed any undergraduate course at any British university. Commonly, potential students from the USA and other English speaking countries just want to know what some of the terminology means on the UCAS forms and can we help. Of course if you wish to apply don't hesitate to visit the Durham University International Office webpage and contact the appropriate person there or at the department to which you intend to apply for help in clarification of anything before you apply. However, UCAS now has a webpage dedicated to helping overseas students through the system so follow the link to the UCAS overseas help page. We look forward to seeing you in Durham.
