Academic Background

I began my academic career in the field of business administration and I hold an MBA from European Business School and a PhD from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. I also hold a MA of Arts (with distinction) from University of Leicester in Historical Archaeology and are currently conducting my PhD project in a joint degree program from University of Luxemburg and Durham University.

Besides working and researching in academia, in various positions and institutions around the globe, I can look back on several years as an entrepreneur and in the automotive industry.

Research Topic

The working title of my current PhD project is “Graves and Grave Markers of the Luxembourg-German border region: Agents and Explanations”. It is part of the FNR (Luxembourg) funded research project “Material Culture and Spaces of Remembrance” ( and is applying a statistical, geo-spatial and archival analysis of graves and grave markers on selected cemeteries, in order to understand how this particular materiality and spatial assemblage which is visible today came to be and what the research of these sepulchral artefacts can actually tell the historical archaeologist about the recent past.
