How did I get here?

I am from California and frequently I am asked: "Why in the world are here in this cold place when you could be in sunny California?" Well, I have many answers to that question... starting with: the sun gets mundane 365 days of the year for so many years in a row. Beyond that, I am here to learn about Anthropology from a department that is known for its high quality, world recognized research. The staff are from all over the world which is a testament I think, to the departments commitment to diversity. Moreover, there is a level of professionalism here that I respect very much.

I have a BA in Fine Arts and a Minor in Anthropology from California State University in Fullerton. Aside from that I’m also a certified Private Pilot and Advanced Ground Instructor - although it has been a long time since I have been in the air. I received an MA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and a PhD in Medical Anthropology from Durham University. My area of expertise, health and well-being, is continually growing which stimulates new ideas for methodology, concepts and theory. I am a TA for tutorial groups from the undergraduate Anthropology Modules and look forward to the opportunities for learning.
