The University is committed to working collaboratively with Durham UCU and others in the sector to advocate for a fair and affordable pension scheme that provides members with financial security in retirement.
In recent months we have established a USS working group and have actively engaged at a national level on issues around USS governance, investment principles and development of alternative, low-cost options.
Durham University and the Durham Branch of the UCU have issued a Joint pension statement May 2022. A joint letter has been sent to Universities UK (UUK) from Professor Karen O'Brien, Vice-Chancellor of Durham University and Dr Sol Gamsu, President of Durham UCU.
