Tickets

Parents embracing a graduating student

For Summer Congregation 2024, each student attending is guaranteed up to 2 tickets, with the opportunity to obtain 1 additional ticket during registration, dependant on availability.

  • All tickets are available to order via the registration system which will open on a staggered basis as detailed on the How to Register page.
  • Only students can request guest tickets.
  • Guests must have a ticket to enter the Cathedral, graduands (students) do not require a ticket.
  • There is no charge for tickets.
  • Do not contact the Ceremonies Unit for extra tickets, all tickets are allocated via the registration system.
  • You can ask at the Guest Ticket Desk on the day of your ceremony to see if there are any spare tickets available.

Everyone is welcome to come to the marquee to enjoy the activities in the Congregation Fair. Guests without tickets can watch a live stream of the ceremonies at the Assembly Rooms (located on the Bailey). Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Ticket Collection

Guests or graduands can collect tickets on the day of the ceremony (only tickets for that day's ceremonies will be available to collect) from the Guest Ticket Desk in the marquee.

Tickets can be collecting from the following times:

  • 9.00am ceremony from 7.15am
  • 11.00am ceremony from 9.00am
  • 1.45pm ceremony from 11.00am
  • 3.45pm ceremony from 1.30pm

Seating

On entering the main body of the Cathedral, guests will be guided into seats by University marshals. Seats are filled from the front to the back in the Nave (centre) and then in the Side Aisles. Guests wishing to sit together must arrive together.

Please note: seating in the Nave is on a first come first served basis and there are around 500 seats available in this area. Once these are full, guests will be seated in the Side Aisles with a restricted view.

The view in the Side Aisles is restricted due to the Cathedral architecture however television monitors are installed throughout the Cathedral to enhance the viewing of the ceremony.

It would be appreciated if guests respected others and did not move from their seats once they have been seated and throughout the ceremony so as not to obstruct the view of fellow guests.

The ceremony is a formal occasion and disruptions by small children can disturb the graduands and their guests. Please consider this before bringing a small child along. Children that require a seat will need a ticket, only babies (under 2 years old) can sit on a guest's lap. The live stream of the ceremony at the Assembly Rooms may be more comfortable for guests with small children, but please note all children must be accompanied by an adult.
