Sian Broadhurst, Director of Strategy Delivery

Responsibilities

The Director of Strategy Delivery is responsible for coordinating and implementing projects to deliver the University’s ambitious strategy. Leading a team to provide a portfolio management function, project delivery support, and coordination of the business improvement programme. The team have successfully supported a diverse range of projects including the repurposing of Queen’s Campus, establishment of a new International Study Centre, and the development of two new colleges at Mount Oswald.

Professional background and expertise

Before moving to Durham, Sian was the Policy and Communications Business Partner for the Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council, with a particular focus on devolution, economic development, and public sector reform, and building effective networks across institutions within the city to identify and optimise opportunities for collaborative working.

Sian started her career with a variety of community development posts that involved developing multi-agency networks and capacity building within community groups to ensure that they were well-run and sustainable.

Education and qualifications

Sian holds an undergraduate and Master's degree in History from Newcastle University and an undergraduate degree in Law from Northumbria University.
