Undergraduate applicants holding offers for 2020 entry
If you have applied to Durham University and have a received an offer of a place at Trevelyan College, I would like to offer you my warmest congratulations! Trevelyan College is one of the smallest colleges in the University and is located in a building of unique architecture, a short walk from Lower Mountjoy, one of the main campus sites where many of the University's departments and services are located. The College itself is set in its own beautiful parkland and offers students fantastic facilities including its own library, the JCR upper common room and Undercroft social areas, the new Fitness Suite, the TV lounge, the Bar, the Buttery (shop), the indoor and outdoor sports courts, the music recital room, music practice rooms, and recording studio, to name but a few. Trevelyan College, or 'Trevs' as it is more affectionally known, offers outstanding levels of development opportunities and personal support both academically and socially, with many societies providing a variety of extra-curricular activities.
I hope that you will take up the chance to visit the College and there are a number of opportunities to do this at one of the University's Post Offer Visit Days:
- Wednesday 19 February 2020 (Day visit only)
- Tuesday 24 March / Wednesday 25 March 2020 (Day visit and Residential options available)
- Wednesday 25 March / Thursday 26 March 2020 (Day visit and Residential options available)

Day visits provide with an opportunity to come along and see the College accommodation and facilities. There will be current undergraduates and members of staff available to chat to about what it's like to study at Durham University and live in Trevelyan College. On the March visit days you will have an opportunity to see some of the study bedrooms where students live, the library, and many of the extracurricular activities facilities that the College has to offer, including the bar, the fitness suite, and music rooms (please note that because the February visit day is during normal term time, access to study rooms is restricted or unavailable depending on occupancy, to protect the privacy of our students. However, you will get to observe the everyday life of students as they go about their daily studies and activities).
Day visitors also have the opportunity to visit their department(s). These sessions take place in the afternoon of the February visit day and in the morning of the March visit days. When you book your place you will have the opportunity to create a personalised timetable for your day.

Residential visits provide you with the opportunity of spending the night in College to get a brief taste of what student life in Trevelyan College is like, Colleges are so much more than just a place of residence where you simply live and socialise. Colleges are individual communities that support our students in their academic endeavours, whilst also providing them with many opportunities to get involved with an incredibly wide range of extra-curricular activities. Trevs is renowned for its music opportunities but it is isn't limited to that with almost 20 sport societies, many with multiple teams, in addition to lots of other societies.
If you are attending as a residential visitor you can choose whether to stay the night on Tuesday 24 March OR Wednesday 25 March
Current undergraduates will help you settle into your room and, time permitting, give you a tour of the College before bringing you into the dining hall for an evening meal (our catering team can provide for a wide range of dietary requirements – please let us know what yours are when you come to book your place). Trevs is renowned for the warmth of the reception we give to new students on arrival, with an enthusiastic team of students to ensure that you settle in quickly and easily. You will hear from members of our College staff and our current JCR President before enjoying an evening of entertainment to suit all tastes, organised by our student team. There will be students from the majority of subject disciplines and different societies, so it will also be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the programme you have applied to study or extracurricular activities.
The following morning you will have breakfast in College before our student team arrange to take you to your departmental session(s).
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate parents or carers at the College on Post-Offer Visit Days, however we would be delighted if they would like to join us for an informal chat on the morning after you stay in College 10am - 11am, whilst you visit your department(s).
