Other Living Costs

As well as the cost of your accommodation you will have other living costs.

Everybody is different, but these are the most common other living costs:

  • Utilities (gas, electric, water)
  • Contents insurance
  • Food and household shopping (washing-up liquid, laundry detergent, cleaning products etc.)
  • Toiletries
  • Phone
  • Travel between home and university/travel to placements
  • New clothes
  • Leisure (extra-curricular activities, nights out, music, gaming, takeaway coffees, grabbing lunch on the go, Uber Eats/Deliveroo, Christmas and birthday presents etc.).

You might have other costs depending on your personal circumstances. Some of your costs will be essential costs (things you need), like rent, utilities, contents insurance, food, household shopping, toiletries and travel between home and university. Some of your costs will be luxury costs (things you want) like some of the leisure costs listed above.
