Sport at Stephenson

This year the netball club have two competing teams. The As, having been promoted last year play in the Premiership and the B team are holding their own in division two. The club welcomes all levels of players from experienced high standard girls looking for competitive play to those who may not have played in years!
Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, cardio-crazy team sport with origins in American Football, Netball and Basketball.
We’re always looking for new, enthusiastic players, so why not come to one of our training sessions and give it a go? Most of us had never played before joining the team, so don’t worry if you think you can’t throw a disk – you’ll pick it up in no time!
With fitness training, skills and match play the rugby teams are a great way to develop your sporting potential. The men’s team are playing a strong game in the premiership division having secured successful wins over rival teams. The Stephenson/Snow women’s team also provides a great opportunity to learn something new or put your play to practice!
Stephenson Badminton Club has a Men's, Women's and Mixed team that all compete in doubles competitions against other colleges. We run multiple sessions a week giving plenty of opportunities to play. All abilities are welcome.
The men’s football club currently have four competitive teams demonstrating fantastically successful seasons across their respective leagues. Whether you play a skilled, high level game or just fancy a kick about or a game, come and try out for a team to suit you!
Having been promoted last year the women’s team regularly train and play matches alongside John Snow in the premiership division.
Whether you want to improve your fitness, meet new people or learn a new skill, mixed lacrosse is a great way to get involved in college sport!

Having been selected to participate in the York vs Durham Varsity the men’s and women’s teams have played exceptionally within their leagues and show great promise for the rest of the year!
With great facilities only ten minutes away, the tennis club train throughout the year and engage in matches and tournaments with other colleges.

With players ranging from regional level to those who had never picked up a stick before, the hockey teams are provide both highly competitive matches as well as great fun training. The women’s team are currently playing at premiership level with the mixed Stephenson/Snow boys team showing success in division one.
Joining the pool team is a great way to improve your game, meet new people and see all the Durham colleges. No matter what your ability, you'll be welcome to represent Stevo against other colleges, or just play a few frames with your mates!
At Queen’s Campus we also have our very own Sports Centre. This includes facilities for badminton, basketball, 5 a side football, netball, trampolining, volleyball etc. There is also a state of the art fitness suite with ergo gallery, facilities for strength and conditioning, a spinning room as well as a small multi-activity studio. Changing and showering facilities are available. Use of the sports hall, multi-activity studio and ergo gallery facility is bookable and is free to students. Membership of the fitness suite is determined annually, please contact the Sports Centre for more information.
Behind the facility is the floodlit all-weather pitch (2 x 5 a-side pitches) which students may book and for which there is a small charge.
