Biography

Rebecca is a first-year PhD law student and research assistant/associate at Durham University. She is a member of the Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice and Human Rights and Public Law at Durham University. She has a strong academic background and obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) with a high 2:1 (68%) in Criminology and Forensic Science from Northumbria University in 2022. She also holds an LLM with Distinction in Criminal Justice from Northumbria University, which she obtained in 2023.

Current research

Her research interests include criminal law, with a particular focus on the UK's Online Safety Act 2023. She is currently researching the protection for children offered by the innovative provisions under the Online Safety Act and is supervised by Dr. Helen Fenwick and Ms Gemma Davies. 

As a research assistant/associate, Rebecca is assisting her supervisor, Dr. Helen Fenwick, on a project that focuses on offensive expression, particularly online.
