Biography
Job Description
Michael leads the Commercial Exploitation of Durham research related to Physical Sciences and Engineering by; securing patents, raising finance, negotiating licenses and creating spin-out companies.
Michael has worked in Research Commercialisation since September 1999. Employed by RTC North Ltd (an independent Technology Transfer company) until June 2005, and then by Durham University to date. Before this, he worked for twelve years in a number of manufacturing and materials management roles, mainly at Rolls-Royce.
Recent work includes the creation of Applied Graphene Materials PLC (AGM). He was a Director for three years, building the business from scratch by; recruiting viable management and operations teams and, securing equity investments, grants, awards and commercial contracts. This work culminated in AGM floating on the London Stock Exchange (AIM listing) in November 2013.
