Biography

My research interests are focused on how we can use the ecology of mosquitoes to inform vector control strategies. My PhD will be investigating the role of Anopheles in food webs and the potential effects of their eradication on the ecological community. I will be designing primers to identify specific Anopheles species from predator faecal samples. Then I can use DNA metabarcoding techniques to evaluate the strength of interaction with their predators. This will then allow me to develop community models to simulate scenarios of Anopheles control and the potential changes in community composition following application.
