Mr Alexander Francis John Gooch
|PhD student in the Department of Theology and Religion|
|Assistant Professor (Education) in the Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD)|
I first came to the English Language Centre as a teacher on a summer course in 2011; I came back in 2012 and stayed. I've been a teacher, a curriculum designer, and a coordinator on the Pre-Sessional and Academic Language and Communication programmes, and at the moment I work mostly on the Foundation programme. My main professional interests these days are in the teaching of academic writing and in 'critical thinking' (whatever that is). My academic background is in Philosophy and Religious Studies, and I occasionally publish in these areas. I am also a philosophical cousellor, certified by the American Philosophical Counsellors Association (APPA).
