The Durham Research Methods Centre (DRMC) has launched its first Picturing Research competition this year. We are proud to announce that we have received a good number of applications for our first edition.

DRMC's annual methods lecture, in honour and memory of Professor Christine Merrell will take place on Thursday 4th May 2023 at 3pm. The lecture is titled 'Complexity Perspectives on Causality & Evidence' by Dr Lasse Gerrits.

The Durham Research Methods Centre (DRMC) invites research staff and postgraduate (PGT and PGR) researchers to submit a pictorial representation of their research to the Picturing Research competition.

We would like to share our most recent Bulletin. In this issue, we have introduced our new Co-Director for the MARM, Dr Cristina Costa, as well as launching our new Workshop Funding Competition, issuing a call for DRMC Student Fellow applications, and offering reflections from our summer internship student.

In jointly funded work by the Research Methods Centre and the Institute for Data Science, Catherine Marley, the DRMC funded PhD student, and supervisors have produced this paper.

DRMC have organised the seminar 'AM-Smart Methods: Setting the Vision and Exploring a new Agenda, Opportunities, and Challenges' with Dr. Corey Schimpf and Dr Brian Castellani.

The DRMC have organised a seminar called “On the reproducibility issue: Will psychological science ever exorcise Laplace’s Demon?” with: Professor Christophe Gernigon, Psychology of Sport & Exercise, Professeur des Universités, Laboratoire EuroMov Digital Health in Motion, Equipe Perception in Action & Synchronization (PIAS).

Detecting microevolutionary responses to natural selection by observing temporal changes in individual breeding values is challenging. Our Statistician, Bilal Ashraf has recently been involved in producing this interesting paper.

In collaboration with the University’s Advanced Research Computing, Durham RIOTs, and the Research Data Management Teams, we’re running a half-day ReproHack event on Thursday 19th May 2022, 9.30am-2.30pm. The event will be registered with the international ReproHack Hub. (This event is only open for Durham University staff and research students ONLY)
