Nationalism, Ethnicity and Cultural Diversity in the Digital Age

The conference takes place in Durham on 14-15 March 2019 and assembles authoritative scholars from several disciplinary areas. Click here for more information.

The discussion will focus on the role of digital media in ongoing transformations of nationhood, ethnicity and cultural diversity. Key themes include: a) the role of language in the digital sphere in the construction of ethnic and national identities; b) memory wars, cultural heritage and digital negotiations of identity online; c) the relationship between digital nationalism and the digital economy; and d) questions of citizenship, xenophobia and populism in the digital age.
