'Erotic Art' in Culture
While some artistic depictions or descriptions of nudity and / or sexual intimacy may be intended as ‘erotic,’ others may be mislabelled based on contemporary mindsets, and rather the cultural context in which such art was created may not have originally intended the audience to perceive these works as necessarily ‘erotic.’ The proposed seminar may draw from artwork, literature, movies, and more from either a historical or modern context, but seeks to examine the use of ‘erotic art’ in culture.
