National Symposium: Inter-cultural communication in healthcare education, research and practice

8th July 2014, 09:00, Queen's Campus, Stockton

Inter-cultural communication in healthcare education, research and practice

  • Date: 8th July 2014
  • Start Time: 09:00 am
  • Location/venue: Durham University School of Medicine, Pharmacy & Health, Holliday Building, Queen’s Campus, University Boulevard, Stockton-on-Tees , TS17 6BH

We are hosting a national symposium in association with the Higher Education Academy and the Arts & Humanities Research Council. Invitations are extended to educators, researchers, community groups and healthcare practitioners with an interest in the challenges surrounding inter-cultural communication in a healthcare context. We wish to share experiences and ideas with the objective to facilitate introduction of language and cultural awareness into healthcare education curricula in Higher Education, to facilitate healthcare research amongst culturally diverse groups, and to improve patient outcomes in a culturally and linguistically diverse space. This will potentially generate ideas for future collaborative projects.

Bookings for this event should be made via: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/events/detail/2014/Seminars/AH/AHRC_events/AHRC_Durham. Any questions to mark.critchley@durham.ac.uk.

This symposium is part of the joint Higher Education Academy (HEA) - Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) collaborative project on Interculturalism and Translating Cultures and is free to attend.
