The Rule of Law & Climate Change – a pensions perspective from ClientEarth

3rd November 2020, 13:00 to 14:00, Joanne Etherton and Kyla Taylor

You are invited to a Zoom webinar on 3rd November 2020

Joanne and Kyla will explain the relevance of climate change to the pensions industry and describe some of the work that ClientEarth are doing to drive the integration of climate-related financial risk into the investment activities of pension schemes and some of their wider work towards a net-zero carbon future.

Joanne Etherton is a solicitor and the Climate Finance Lead at Client Earth. She joined ClientEarth in 2017 after a career in private practice spanning over 29 years. Joanne leads the climate finance project. Before joining ClientEarth, Joanne was a pensions partner in the London office of international law firm, Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, having previously trained and practised pensions law at Clifford Chance LLP.

Kyla Taylor is a solicitor and a climate finance lawyer at Client Earth. She joined ClientEarth in January 2020. Before joining Client Earth Kyla worked in the commercial litigation practice of Hogan Lovells International LLP with a focus on pensions and trusts.

ClientEarth’s climate finance project uses corporate and investment laws to drive hard-hitting action on climate change. Pension schemes are major institutional investors with power to steer and influence financial flows. ClientEarth has used a range of legal tools to identify and highlight the failure of pension industry actors to act on climate risks and to advocate for strengthened laws and robust engagement by the industry on climate change issues.

ClientEarth is a charity that uses the power of the law to protect people and the planet.
