Global Dialogue / Local Innovation Conferences in Bangkok and Durham 2017
With funding from the ESRC, the project took a significant step forward in 2017, with the creation of a global, strategic network that will investigate legal solutions to unacceptable work on a truly international scale. September marked completion of the second of two international workshops focused on regulatory and policy innovations that could help eradicate unacceptable working conditions for people around the world.
Having come together to discuss the parameters of eight comparative case studies, the multi-disciplinary network teams are now compiling research agendas on precarious economies, conditions of work, global value chains, home-based care, forced labour, wages and hours, day labour, and hybrid enforcement. The aim is for these research agendas to be taken forward during a next phase of funding, which is currently in the application stage.
