Thom Brooks elected new future President of world’s oldest and largest society of legal academics

(1 November 2018)

Professor Thom Brooks became the first elected Vice President-Elect of the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS). The SLS is the first and largest society for legal academics. The Vice President-Elect becomes Vice President in one year and then the SLS President the following year. Brooks is believed to be the second American to become the SLS President. While he is the first Durham Vice President, he will become only the second Durham academic to become President. Brooks becomes the 120th President in 2020 and the occasion will include brining the society’s annual conference to Durham University. Brooks said: “I am incredibly proud to represent members as the SLS’s first elected future President. I look forward to closely working with colleagues – and to showcasing Durham when the annual conference comes here in a few years’ time.”
