Thom Brooks calls for creation of a Citizenship Advisory Group

(19 March 2015)

Professor Thom Brooks has published new pieces in key Labour Party blogs calling for the creation of a new Citizenship Advisory Group. The last decade has seen significant changes to immigration law and policy, including the launch of citizenship tests, new regulations governing 'good character' and citizenship ceremonies. However, the government has failed to review how current rules can be made fit for purpose.

The first piece 'Labour should lead on reforming citizenship rules' (http://labourlist.org/2015/02/labour-should-lead-on-reforming-citizenship-rules/) was published on LabourList (the leading Labour Party blog) and the second 'Time to revise and relaunch the UK citizenship test' (http://www.progressonline.org.uk/2015/03/04/time-to-revise-and-relaunch-the-uk-citizenship-test/) was published on Progress Online. Brooks is Professor of Law and Government at Durham University and a leading expert on immigration law and policy.
