Dr Erika Rackley discusses judicial diversity on Woman's Hour

(16 May 2011)

Does gender make a difference to judging? Do women have a different sense of justice? Dr Erika Rackley debated these issues on the BBC Radio 4 programme Woman's Hour in May. Drawing on the research in her forthcoming book on diversity in the judiciary, Erika argues that targets should be set for increasing the representation of women judges and that gender, as with other factors such as ethnicity, background, religion and age, does make a difference. Listen to the debate.
