John Snow College

College & Durham Award

The John Snow College Award

Each year all first and second year students are invited and encouraged to take part in the John Snow College Award. It has been created to help students map the skills they are developing with those employers are looking for. It recognises the competencies and experiences students are gaining during their time at Durham through course activities, extracurricular activities, work experience, and community engagement and volunteering activities. Completing the College Award is essential for students wanting to go on to apply for the Durham Award.

Deadline for completion: end of Easter term 2018.

The Durham Award

The Durham Award is a mark of excellence, recognised by employers, which allows students to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate their employability. Employers say the Durham Award makes students:

  • better prepared
  • self-aware
  • more balanced
  • recognise capabilities
  • have the edge over their peer
  • develop skills
