College Life

At John Snow, we aim to provide you with a first class Wider Student Experience. Our goal is to help and encourage you to develop your life long personal qualities which add value to your academic achievements.

With challenges and opportunities, we will encourage your engagement and participation with everything we offer.

Being involved with sports and societies provides the opportunity to have fun and develop life skills such as leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.

In addition to these opportunities, we are developing a brand-new student enrichment offering: the John Snow College Futures Programme.

This aims to help prepare our students for the world into which they will graduate. Irrespective of our students’ studies or career aspirations, all futures will be affected by geo strategic trends and the tech revolution. The programme centres around four themes:

  • The world of 2030. Understanding the implications of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

  • Human attributes. Developing and demonstrating the attributes only humans will offer in an increasingly automated world.

  • Networks and networking. Maximising opportunity for all, irrespective of social background.  Developing an alumni network of networks and equipping students with the skills to succeed at networking.

  • Opportunity North East.  Opening our students’ eyes to career and entrepreneurship opportunities in the region.

Snow Day 2024

At the each of each academic year we come together to celebrate our college with 'Snow Day'- a fun mini-festival like event with food, drinks and entertainment.

This year we got some amazing footage with our new college drone 'Snow Force One'. Here are our highlights...

My experience at Snow has been everything I could have asked for and more! From the moment I arrived at college I felt welcomed and knew I’d made the right choice. I’ve been able to make amazing friends both on and outside my course, join and even exec on some of Snow’s amazing societies, and really make college my home away from home. Snow just has one of those communities where you feel like you belong no matter what - even on my year abroad I’ve managed to stay involved and bleed blue in Canada and Italy. I’m really looking forward to returning for my final year.
