Welcome to John Snow College
At John Snow College, we provide an environment which enables our students to develop in every area of life, and build on their existing skills and gain new skills. There is a great variety of sport, leisure and well-being clubs and groups, and also a variety of music, theatre and art societies which new students can join. Our students are involved in a lot of volunteering and charity work, and welcome new students to get involved in this important part of College life. We have a long standing tradition of attracting students from all over the world, and we are a truly International College. Our College staff provide friendly and first class support for new students, and our priority is their personal safety and their health and well-being.
Founded in 2001, we are a modern yet traditional gowned college with self-catered accommodation. The majority of our undergraduate Freshers will be accommodated in an ensuite room in a cluster flat (of between 5 and 8 bedrooms) in one of our four large accommodation blocks. We have dedicated Townhouses (12 bedrooms, six bathrooms each of which is dedicated for two named students to share) which are ideal for UG Freshers who request a Female-only environment, Male-only environment, or Alcohol-free environment. All of the beds are 3/4 beds ( half way between a single and a double bed). We understand that some students cannot, or prefer not, to live alongside and share their kitchen with students of the opposite sex, or with students who drink alcohol. The Townhouses are also generally quieter places to live. We understand that living arrangements are a top priority for new students, and we pride ourselves in making sure that new students share a flat or Townhouse with students who have similar preferences, for example vegetarian and vegan, single sex, nut allergy, other allergies and intolerances, and alcohol-free. Our post graduate students are offered the opportunity to live in our Townhouses. The Townhouses are slightly set back from the main part of the College which allows us to create a more mature environment in this setting. We also have a number of well-equipped accessibility bedrooms, and welcome with open arms all students with mental and physical disabilities.
