Futures II Day
In what will be the Institute's sixth year (2011-12), before returning to a programme of annual themes, the Institute wishes to target more specifically 'Durham Futures' in collaboration with University Research Committee. The aim is to orientate the fellowship programme and other forms of IAS activity to support intra- inter- and multi-disciplinary ventures that could become real centres of excellence for Durham in the future.
Projects will be supported and developed during the course of 2010-11 in preparation for a full programme of events running during the course of the Futures II year (2011-12). The IAS will also be hosting Fellows at the Institute in 2011-12 to support these projects.
On 19 April 2010 the IAS will host, in collaboration with University Research Committee, an afternoon showcasing event to provide an opportunity for all interested academic and research staff to learn more about the projects being taken forwarded under the auspices of the Futures II theme in 2011-12. Colleagues involved in the projects will present their ideas and plans to enable researchers from across the disciplines at Durham to learn about the potential for further involvement in the projects. Each presentation will be followed by a 10 minute Q&A session. The event will start at midday with a networking lunch and full details of the schedule of presentations will be published shortly.
