Emotions and Feelings in Psychiatric Illness Workshop
The issues we will address at these workshops will be of interest not only to philosophers, psychiatrists, and psychologists, but also to researchers in allied disciplines, including neuroscience, anthropology and literature studies, and to a wider public.
The aim of this project is to further enrich interdisciplinary emotion research by drawing on current work in psychiatry. A survey of the psychiatric literature suggests that pathologies of emotion play a significant role in numerous conditions. Work in psychiatry points to several roles for emotion and feeling that have been neglected by many philosophers and psychologists. It also has the potential to further illuminate roles that have been discussed, such as the contribution made by emotions to reasoning.
