CANCELLED - International Energy Systems Integration - Workshop (Day 2)

Hogan Lovell’s Lecture Theatre, Durham Law School, Palatine Centre

Energy Systems Integration (ESI) is defined as “the process of coordinating the operation and planning of energy systems across multiple pathways and physical scales in order to deliver reliable, cost effective energy services with less impact on the environment” (International Institute for Energy Systems Integration). It is a key emerging discipline nationally and internationally in energy research and in industry, with major initiatives by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the European Union, and Science Foundation Ireland, in addition to the new UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Centre for Energy Systems Integration (CESI) in which Durham is a partner.

This two day workshop on interdisciplinary collaboration in ESI is organised by the Durham Energy Institute, with support from the Institute of Advanced Study, in collaboration with CESI. This will for part of CESI’s “co-evolution cycle” process, in which every 1.5 years the partnership holds a period of intensive discussion with a wide range of experts to review its research.

The event will attract a wide range of high level international research and industry figures to Durham; showcase Durham energy research to this audience, and showcase the achievements and plans of CESI; create new interdisciplinary links within Durham; deepen external links (industry and academic) for Durham University more broadly than just those associated with Durham Energy institute; and create opportunities for new international collaborations and joint projects.

This workshop takes place Thursday 22 and Friday 23 March 2018. A detailed programme will be available at If you would like to receive further information, please contact
