Early prediction of internet ‘winners’: products/technologies/ideas
The internet is a source of great innovation. New products are introduced all the time. Every day, huge numbers of ‘memes’, of ideas and stories, compete for attention. Most of these are destined for the ‘long tail’ of very few hits and total obscurity. Some succeed on a massive scale. We describe how to measure the inherent predictability of any particular set of products/ideas/stories and show that, if it has predictability, how the ‘winners’ can be identified at an extremely early stage.
