University Wide Development & Support

The University recognises and understands that change of any scale can be unsettling, whilst also recognising that change is often a necessary and positive development for organsiations and teams. Support resources are availble to individuals, teams and departments on their change journey:
Your line manager will support individuals and the team through change by providing updates, ensuring appropriate communication, asking for feedback and answering queries.
If they are unable to provide an answer they will raise the query with the appropriate person in the University.
The University's Organisation Development Team support the University Strategy by providing focused organisational and development initiatives for all members of the University's staff. They provide a range of development programmes and workshops that are open to all members of staff. For more information please see

Durham University prides itself on its postive commication and collaboration with it's recognised Trade Unions. The University will inform and where applicable consult with Trade Unions, engaging in active communication to ensure the success of any organisational change.

The University recognises the following trade unions:

Trade Union members can be supported by their Trade Union Representive if there role is affected by organisational change.

It is not a condition of employment in the University that any member of staff should join any Trade Union.

Our occupational health team, following a management referral, can provide individual support to all staff members to promote postive health and wellbeing during periods of change at work.
A newly deveopled training course titled 'Promoting Positive Mental Health and Reducing Work Related Stress' is also available to book via the training course booking system.
