A nanofabrication process, based on the layer-by-layer electrostatic
deposition method, has been developed to fabricate free-standing
cantilevers and bridges of polyelectrolytes containing conductive
carbon nanotubes. The technique can produce a high yield of structures,
with typical dimensions of 30-60 mu m length, 20 mu m width and 1 mu m
thickness. This represents an important step towards using nanotubes in
actuator applications.
