Before you contact the Assessment Centre to enquire about making an appointment for a Needs Assessment please ensure you have the following:
- Letter from your funding body (e.g. Student Finance England) telling you to make an appointment for a Needs Assessment.
- Copies of any medical evidence, or a copy of your psychological diagnostic assessment report.
If you are unsure about this, please contact us and staff will be able to give general advice.
A provisional appointment will only be made upon production of your Funding Body letter; your medical evidence or psychological diagnostic assessment report and a fully completed Pre Assessment Questionnaire (PAQ) to the Assessment Centre.
Due to the length of time it can take to complete the DSA application process you are strongly advised not to delay making an appointment for a Needs Assessment. You do not need to have a Needs Assessment appointment at Durham University Assessment Centre because you are studying, or intend to study, at Durham University. There is a national network of assessment centres and there may be a centre close to your home where you can be seen sooner. Please visit DSA-QAG for more information.
If you have previously had a DSA Needs Assessment, please contact us to discuss your request for an appointment.
Next available appointment
We endeavour to offer appointment times within 15 working days. At peak times, such as the start of the academic year, we may not be able to do so. However, staff are always able to advise of alternative appointment availability in the local area. You can check this yourself, if you prefer, using the DSA-QAG Assessment Centre finder tool.
During quieter times we are sometimes able to offer appointments within 5 working days, or less. Contact us to confirm exact appointments currently available.
