Our philosophy is that anyone who wants to learn a language should be able to do so.
We are currently developing our October Languages for All programme, with registration due to open in August. All learners who studied a course with us during the 2024 - 25 academic year will receive automatic notification when the October courses become available.
If you would like to express your interest in studying a particular language / level, please complete our form and we will notify you when a suitable course becomes available.
If you have further queries, please email languages.forall@durham.ac.uk

We sit down with Thomas Graves to hear all about his journey learning Japanese through Languages for All. Thomas shares why he chose to take a language class alongside his main degree, what inspired him to pick Japanese specifically, and what his experience has been like so far.
We sit down with Ken Bradshaw to hear all about his journey learning German through Languages for All. He shares why he chose to take a language class, what inspired him to pick German specifically, and what his experience has been like so far.
I came into Spanish class speaking absolutely no Spanish (except maybe the words for hello and goodbye). The classes quickly became a highlight of my week; they were so fun and informative, not just about the language but also about cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world. Everyone in the class was in the same boat, so I felt comfortable making mistakes and asking lots of questions. By the end of two terms of classes, I had gone from zero Spanish to feeling confident enough to have a basic conversation.
