DELE Exam at Durham

The next DELE examination session at Durham University will take place in May 2024. Registrations will open in February 2024.

What is DELE?

DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is a Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language, issued by Instituto Cervantes, on behalf of the Spanish government.

Why get the DELE?

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, with approximately 400 million native speakers. It has official status in 21 countries.

The DELE is the only internationally recognised Diploma of Spanish. It is recognised in the commercial and business world as well as in the public civil service sector, and in educational institutions. It can help employment prospects and access to further education.

Which levels are available?

There are six levels, based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. A description of each level, exam formats and lengths can be found on the official DELE website.

We also offer the DELE exam for young learners and schools at A1 and A2 / B1 level.
