Rita Ueda Awarded the Azrieli Canadian Music Prize
Rita Ueda (PhD research student in composition) has been awarded the 2022 Azrieli Music Prize for Canadian Music with a portfolio that includes as the spring blossoms awaken through the snow for intercultural orchestra, supervised by Prof. Richard Rijnvos and Dr James Weeks.
The Azrieli Music Prize is one of the most important awards for composition in Canada. The 2022 award includes a commission to compose a new 25-minute double concerto to be premiered in October 2022 by the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
