Professor Tom Wynn Inspires Students at City of London School for Girls

Durham University’s Professor Tom Wynn recently visited the City of London School for Girls to share his insights on studying Modern Languages. Drawing on his research in early modern French theatre and culture, he inspired students to think about how language learning opens up new perspectives, global experiences, and exciting career paths.

On Monday, 29 September, Professor Tom Wynn visited the City of London School for Girls to speak about studying Modern Languages.

According to the school’s newsletter, students were captivated by Professor Wynn’s engaging discussion of theatre, spectatorship, and crime in early modern French literature and culture. His talk also highlighted the wide range of opportunities offered by studying languages at university — from the academic and cultural enrichment of a year abroad to the highly transferable skills that make language graduates so employable.

We’re delighted to see such enthusiasm for Modern Languages and grateful to the City of London School for Girls for the warm welcome.
