Durham University celebrates honorary degree for Lord Darroch, former UK Ambassador to the United States
During winter congregation 2024, Durham University awarded an honorary degree to Lord (Kim) Darroch.
The honorary degree was in recognition of Lord Darroch's profound impact as one of the UK’s leading diplomats over a high profile and influential career, including time in Brussels, Tokyo, 10 Downing Street and as Britain’s ambassador to the United States before becoming a crossbench life Peer. The oration was read by Durham Law School’s Thom Brooks, Professor of Law and Government, who is a dual US-UK citizen. Lord Darroch has been a longstanding supporting of the university’s staff, students and alumni.
