Durham Energy Institute

Spin Off Companies

Our research in energy is leading to commercial application, through the work of spin-off companies:

GeoPressure Technology (GPT)

Provide highly acclaimed training and consultancy in sub-surface pressure problems. Projects backed by a suite of niche software designed to manage and visualise pressure data.

Geospatial Research Ltd (GRL)

Specialises in digital mapping and survey, and the application of geospatial technologies in petroleum and mineral exploration.

Geoenergy Durham Ltd

Geoenergy Durham is a new university spin out company created by DEI.  The company will perform non-routine service work for industry, government and possibly NGOs in areas such as carbon capture and storage, geothermal energy, clean coal, conventional and non-conventional petroleum.  The aim for the company is to work within a niche comprising application of new technology which cannot be considered research and is not routine service work that could be done within the existing contracting community.  One of the drivers to create the company was a direct result of enquiries for assistance from companies that fell outside the research remit for geo-energy within DEI.
