The DEI has been granted a fund of £60,000 through the Building Bridges Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) Scheme to enhance the impact of its interdisciplinary research. The Institute has chosen to distribute this funding through a call for applications, together with establishing a dedicated commercialisation support role.
The initial call for applications for this funding is open from Wednesday 23 October to Friday 29 November 2013. Application Forms can be downloaded here.
In parallel with providing Impact funding, the DEI will be developing a range of impact support tools, training and advice to assist researchers across the Institute in maximising the impact of their research. All applicants should aim to ensure that consideration is given to REF2020 in any applications submitted.
All funding must be spent by September 2015 and is available to previously funded EPSRC related projects. Guidance notes for the fund are linked here
A larger pool of Impact Acceleration funding is also available through Durham Business and Innovation Services. Applicants may also wish to review their eligibility for the below when compiling their applications
- Knowledge Transfer Secondments: Continuing the very successful previous outward secondments of university staff and inward secondments of company staff. KTS allows the movement of skilled people both into and out of Durham University.
- Follow-On Technology Conditioning Programmes: Conditioning good basic research for future application and forming valuable intellectual property.
- Seedcorn Funds: Small sums to encourage the development of nascent partnerships.
