Energy & Security Seminar Series: Seminar 1

10th September 2010, 13:00 to 14:00, Venue: Room E245, School of Engineering & Computing Sciences, Discussions led by: Professor J Gluyas and Dr A Baldwin;

The DEI autumn Energy Challenge seminar series aims to develop a cross-disciplinary dialogue on the broad issue of energy and security. As such, the series will not present the latest research on the subject of energy and security, but instead seeks to cultivate a multidisciplinary dialogue on the topic, involving as wide an array of interests as possible. The ultimate aim of the seminar series is to produce a DEI 'position paper' on the issue of energy and security.

The first of a planned series of 3 meetings will be led by Professor J Gluyas (Earth Sciences) and Dr A Baldwin (Geography).

A provocative set of ideas relating to energy and security will be presented at this meeting, followed by a guided discussion. The themes and format of the remaining seminars in the series will be determined on the basis of the issues raised in the opening seminar. These further meetings will take place during November and December, dates and venues to be confirmed.

Buffet lunch is available from 12:45, with seminar beginning at 13:00.  Please indicate any dietary requirements when registering.
