Energy Systems Integration Research Discussion

13th November 2014, 13:00 to 14:30, DEI Board Room, 003, Arthur Holmes Building, Henrik Madsen

We are delighted to announce the visit to Durham Energy Institute of Henrik Madsen who is a major player in the Energy Systems Integration world (e.g. ) and the new European ESI programme. Henrik is leading statistician at Danish Technical University.

DEI would like to encourage Durham researchers from different energy focus areas to attend this research discussion on Energy Systems Integration.

Energy Systems Integration (ESI), is a multidisciplinary area ranging from science, engineering and technology to policy, economics, regulation and human behaviour, which is coming to the fore in the planning, design and operation of the global energy system. It recognises Energy Systems as “complex set of systems, both physical (e.g. electricity grids, gas networks), institutional (i.e. regulatory and economic) and at all scales (i.e. from individual buildings to continental scale)”.

You can read more about this new approach in the EERA Energy System Integration JP initiative Scoping Paper
