H2020 -Opportunities for the Energy, Materials and Process industries in the North East

12th May 2014, 09:00 to 14:30, Wynyard Rooms, Billingham, Cleveland

The North East Energy Leadership Council (ELC), supported by the Materials KTN have organised this event to facilitate a strong North East response to the recently announced Horizon 2020 (H2020) European funding Call. Geoff Williams (DEI) will be presenting on EU assessing processes at the event. A good opportunity to make industry links and gain insight to Horizon 2020 in the region.

We will see presentations giving an overall introduction to the H2020 programme from the Technology Strategy Board as well as the potential for the specialist areas in the North East, specifically process industries and materials and energy. This will be followed by two presentations that will focus on previous recipients of European Framework funding as case studies.

After the presentations there will be an opportunity for delegates to participate in parallel discussions on energy and process and materials, firstly to discuss the impact of the programme and opportunities for the North East and secondly to seek potential consortia to bid into the funding.

There will be presentations and case studies from:

  • Lord Shipley
  • Steve Morris, KTN ltd
  • Craig Sharp, National Contact Point for Horizon 2020 - NMP
  • Helen Fairclough, National Contact Point ,for Horizon 2020 - Energy
  • Geoff Williams,Durham Energy Institute and Physics
  • Alf Smith, Centre for Process innovation
  • Dave Boland, Menza

Followed by Parallel session on Energy Priority areas and Materials & Process Priority areas.

Finishing with a discussion ion 'Building Potential Consortia.
