Stats4Grads seminar series: Uncertainty Analysis of Future Power Systems
At the time investment decisions are made there is a lot of uncertainty in the future of Britain's power system. Full simulators are too expensive to be used in the face of uncertainty. Statistical emulators are therefore used to approximate simulators and make good investment decisions.
A seminar series facilitating the assessment of the interdisciplinary role that statistics plays and in particular the ''get together'' of postgraduate students in statistics with other postgraduates that work on quantitative problems in their research.
Hosted by the Statistics and Probability Group of the Department of Mathematical Sciences the interdisciplinary seminar series takes place every Wednesday 13.00 in CM105 on odd weeks of term.
The purpose of the seminar series is to facilitate the assessment of the interdisciplinary role that statistics plays and in particular the ''get together'' of postgraduate students in statistics with other postgraduates that work on quantitative problems in their research. Discussion should be focused upon the use of statistics and statistical analysis.
All interested postgraduate students are invited to attend. Any PhD students, Masters students or early career post doctoral researchers are invited to get in touch if they wish to either present aspects of their statistical analyses or who would be interested in discussion of their work with statisticians and other disciplines to get in touch. This may also include ''work in progress'' where the student is unsure about the adequacy of the statistical analysis performed and feels that they would benefit from feedback by postgraduates in Statistics or other disciplines.
