7th December 2011, 18:30 to 20:00, Venue: Calman Learning Centre, Durham University DH1 3LE, Speaker: Ian Allen, Manager Environmental Strategy & Ampera, Vauxhall Motors Ltd

Free lecture to highlight the launch of the unique Vauxhall Ampera extended range electric car.

The revolutionary Vauxhall Ampera creates a whole new category in the car industry. Also known as the Chevrolet Volt, the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV) combines the environmental benefits of an electric vehicle with the range of a conventional car. The Ampera provides a range of 50 miles using pure battery driving plus the unique Voltec propulsion system which eliminates range anxiety normally associated with the current generation of Electric Vehicles by extending the range to more than 350 miles whilst retaining remarkable fuel efficiency.

Some of the technical and environmental challenges of the vehicle will be presented by Ian Allen,  Manager Environmental Strategy and Ampera, Vauxhall Motors Limited.

The new Ampera is expected to be on display.

Refreshments will be available from 18:00; lecture starts 18:30 prompt.
