Every Durham University student belongs to a college - a vibrant, supportive community that provides opportunities for you to gain new experiences and develop skills to achieve more in your future life. Each college has its own distinctive character defined by its buildings, traditions and people and each offers an excellent range of facilities for study, sports, socialising and relaxing.
Collingwood currently has over 130 postgraduate members, of whom 33 are resident in College. Although only a small proportion of our postgraduate population live in Collingwood accommodation, we have a flourishing postgraduate student body - the MCR (Middle Common Room). The MCR has its own common room, with a TV room and kitchen. The MCR is very well integrated with the JCR (the undergraduate body), sharing all college facilities and being involved in all college events, societies and clubs. Collingwood is known to be a friendly, sociable and lively college with many opportunities for students to get involved. From sports teams, to theatre and music, Collingwood postgraduates can get involved in all of our societies and there are opportunities for MCR members to participate and organise research seminars, lectures and workshops.
